New contract for Collins - Yes or No?
His recent performances have been immense, but he's getting old(er) and we have two young very promising CB's that need to be given a chance at some point.
Should Ginge be offered a new One Year contract?

His current contract runs another year anyway.

Re: New contract for Collins - Yes or No?
Another year for an alleged 3rd/4th choice CH who consistently pushes the incumbents for a place, would be reasonably priced, who loves the club and is by all accounts a superb positive presence in the dressing room.

No. Out him and replaced him with another Fonte.

Keep reading he is getting older slower etc.
It's been no coincidence that our form has retuned since Collins has returned.
He would be one of those first on the team sheet.
No brainer.

Re: New contract for Collins - Yes or No?
In a perfect world, we'd look to sell him in the summer and have Fonte as our experienced centre back that we can rely on if we need to, whilst bringing in Burke and Oxford into the fold.

However, given the way this season has gone, I'd be tempted to keep him on.

Re: New contract for Collins - Yes or No?
Earned a 1 year deal if he is happy to remain a second tier choice. If we stick with a back three then he has shown how useful he is.

Question for me is Oxford and Burke. Where do they fit in? If they are going to make it we need to start using them in our squad?

Fonte, Collins, Reid, Ogbonna... Burke and Oxford. For 3 places. Maybe all 5 can be part of the squad. Again assumes 3 at the back is here to stay which I hope it is.

If he has a year left after this, then no. We'll see where we are then.

Keep him as back up, and watch him earn his way into first choice again and again.

I reckon he can keep it up for a season or two.

I love the bloke, for his spirit, professionalism, and most of all for his defending. Sometimes people mention the few cock ups he makes, but generally, he makes the Rock of Gibralta look like a pebble.
